The stations have been successfully trialled in the Illawarra Region by the Kiama Lions Club at major community events and the feedback from these trials were overwhelmingly positive.
The concept aligns perfectly with the state’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), where eligible cans and bottles carry a 10 cent refund. By providing a dedicated, visible, and easy to use collection point, these stations make it simple for the public to do the right thing, diverting valuable recyclable materials from landfill and into the circular economy.
